Kyle Busch Wins Again. Rinse. Repeat.
Man, I have to say, for a road race, today’s race was pretty good. Lots of action, a bit of excitement, one big wreck, and a typical ending.
After rivals Jimmie Johnson and Jeff Gordon said during the week they thought he was slipping following two straight lackluster finishes, Busch answered by making NASCAR history on Sunday. He led 52 laps from the pole and won the Centurion Boats at The Glen at Watkins Glen International to become the first driver in NASCAR’s history to win three road course races in one season.
I got some really good screen shots I need to pull from my DVR tomorrow, of the wreck, hopefully I will have time to post those tomorrow. Needless to say, the slogan showing on the banner, with the wreck below, had me chuckling out loud.
Let’s hope Bobby Labonte is going to be okay too.
Labonte Stays With Petty Enterprises
There is good news coming out of Petty Enterprises this week.
Bobby Labonte became the latest driver to take himself off the free-agent market, agreeing to a contract extension with Petty Enterprises, a person familiar with the negotiations told The Associated Press.
The former Cup Series champion had been considering an extension since late last year and decided this week to continue driving the famed No. 43 Dodge.
The person spoke to the AP on condition of anonymity Saturday because portions of the deal, including sponsorship, are still being completed.
It’s good to see Bobby Labonte staying with Petty. I wonder what other offers he had, and how tempting it was to take some of them. The Petty’s are a good family, and a great team, so maybe the decision wasn’t too difficult for him.
