Franchitti Is Suddenly Looking For A Ride
It’s not everyday that an entire cup team is just “shut down” unexpectedly. Then again, while the driver and the crew of the #40 team probably knew they had financial troubles, from the sound of it I don’t think they were even slightly aware that Ganassi was going to shut them down.
Dario Franchitti is without a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series ride.
Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates on Tuesday announced that due to a lack of sponsorship, it will immediately cease operation of the team’s No. 40 Dodge driven by Franchitti prior to this weekend’s race in Daytona.
“This is a difficult decision for Felix and I that did not come without its share of anguish,” Ganassi said. “In this tough business environment, continuing to run the car without proper funding has become increasingly difficult.”
Dario Franchitti is an awesome driver and I am sure he will end up on his feet, or in the seat, of another team real soon.
