Denny Hamlin Wins At Richmond

It’s amazing how many races are won these days because of fuel mileage or ‘luck o’ the tires’. I would personally love to see a race where it finished, you, with a race.

Local favorite Denny Hamlin used a late pit stop for tires to foil the strategy of fellow NASCAR stars Kevin Harvick and Carl Edwards, blowing by them to win the Nationwide Series race at Richmond International Raceway on Friday night.

Harvick and Edwards dominated the race all night, but when the sixth caution flew with 22 laps to go, Hamlin gave up his fourth-place position to head to pit road for tires. When everyone behind him followed, leaving Harvick, Edwards and No. 3 Mike Bliss as the only cars still out on the track, Hamlin emerged still running fourth and with brand new traction.

Congratulations Denny!

Hamlin Parked For Pushing

When push comes to shove, keep doing what you were doing. That’s the Hamlin Doctrine.

NASCAR tried to curb bump-drafting during Friday’s practice at Talladega Superspeedway, and parked Denny Hamlin during the first session when officials saw him pushing Tony Stewart on TV.

He was ordered to the garage late, but said he was done, anyway.

“They made a general warning right at the beginning to everyone to stop using the front bumpers, and after that I got hit probably 20 to 30 times,” Hamlin said. “So I figured I’d just keep doing what I was doing. Right there at the end, I guess I was a little excessive.”

Why is it that the young guns think NASCAR is always singling them out?

On a side note, I don’t know about you, but I still think the Car of Tomorrow is a bad idea. I can’t stand it. All the cars look the same, all the cars run the same. The races come down to nothing more than a race off pit road and who can avoid wrecking until the end.

Denny Hamlin Gets It

He still hasn’t apologized, but I think Denny Hamlin finally gets it.

Denny Hamlin had five days to think about his garage-area confrontation with Kyle Petty, which ended with Petty swiping at his helmet and Hamlin vowing to continue the fight.

But Hamlin was contrite Friday when he arrived at Kansas Speedway, and vowed to put the incident behind him.

“No matter what you do, Kyle is going to be right and a lot of what he did was right,” Hamlin said. “You never want to be involved in an incident, especially with Kyle because he’s respected a lot … so, really, I’ve just got to learn to grow up as far as that’s concerned.”

Then again, no matter how respected Kyle Petty is, he shouldn’t walk up to people while they are still in their car and smack their helmets… That’s just not cool.

Denny Hamlin Wins Busch Race At Dover

Dizzy Spells, chills, and intravenous fluids. I am amazed he was able to sit behind the wheel and control the car the way he did.

The checkered flag was the perfect tonic for the ailing Denny Hamlin.

Feeling weak and needing intravenous fluids before the race, Hamlin nearly threw in the towel. Good thing he held on, or else he would have missed out on bringing home a trophy.

Hamlin shook off an illness and found the energy to dominate and win the caution-filled Busch Series race at Dover International Speedway on Saturday, his third win of the season.

Great job Denny.
